There is great opposition against pastoral and Christian leadership in America. The Pastoral Care Inc. reports the following statistics regarding ministers:[1]
- 80% believe pastoral ministry has negatively affected their families. Many pastor’s children do not attend church now because of what the church has done to their parents.
- 90% of pastors report the ministry was completely different than what they thought it would be like before they entered the ministry.
- 75% of pastors report significant stress-related crises at least once in their ministry.
- 80% of pastors and 84% of their spouses have felt underqualified and discouraged in the role of pastors at least once or more times in their ministry.
- 70% of pastors report they have a lower self-image now than when they first started.
- Over 50% of pastors are unhealthy, overweight, and do not exercise.
- Only 1 out of every 10 pastors will actually retire as a pastor.
These, and other statistic sound the alarm that something must be done to support the well-being and development of pastors and Christian leaders as they fulfill God’s calling. Over the years, God has led me to support pastors and Christian leaders across the nation through friendship and coaching. God is now leading me to take this further by launching a charity that will support growing and “healthy” churches by caring for, training, and equipping pastors and Christian leaders. New Normal Coaching (NNC) will support leaders through coaching, health and wellness, personal development, and counseling. Beginning in 2020, we have agreed to work with Rural Compassion and Convoy of Hope to provide coaching for fifty Assemblies of God rural pastors. Our vision is to expand as we open up coaching to hundreds of pastors and Christian leaders across the United States.
We still need $2500 to satisfy our launch budget that includes our 501(c)3 filing, web hosting, software, and needed items to serve pastors and leaders. Further, our 2020 annual budget is projected at $18,000 ($1,500 peer month). We will meet this budget with only thirty monthly donors at $50 per month.
